The discussion was set for October 17th in New York City, but Charlamagne Tha God explained on his Instagram account that the talk would not have been productive at this moment and instead be “a total distraction.” The article explains that according to the New York Times, the two decided to not go through with the event. Kanye West and Charlamagne Tha God have been very open in the past about their struggles with mental health and the discussion was going to bring that to light.


It was also set to remove the many stigmas around individuals with mental health, especially when it comes to the black community, according to the Breakfast Club radio host. He has struggled with anxiety in the past and was vocal about individuals getting help from a therapist if needed on his Twitter account in a tweet from March 9 of this year. However, Charlamagne Tha God pointed out that black men specifically need to go because of the associated stigmas.
